I have also been able to add sound to the finished result but unfortunately I haven’t composed the intro tune. I would have liked to incorporate yet more of my own music into the game but the track I found suits the scenes perfectly. I’m using Plump Dj’s tune; Get Kinky. It’s a fiery, synth-lead, adrenaline-pumping, breakbeat track and is extremely fitting to the surroundings of the video clip!

 On top of the intro cutscene I have included a new title for the game. Once the intro has run it’s course, the player is presented with a title animation labelling the game’s name. I am happy with the results because it is the exact image of what I had initially thought up in theory.

I have completed, but not yet included, the default design and working ‘button’ for each of the selectable navigational commands throughout the front end of the game. At the moment, the button reads: ‘button’ , but I will easily change the text per desired command, i.e ‘options’, ‘controls’ , ‘back’ , ‘next’ etc.

The dissertation is due in this friday and I have taken on the duty of creating a Flash game for the degree show, so I will not be working on my F.M.P this week. I will inform my tutor of this in the morning.

WARNING!: The rendering process is hugely time consuming and although I am producing a lot of work for the intro, the render times take such a long time. They work out to around 20 frames rendered in an hour. Most ‘scenes’ are, on average, 90 frames but the scenes are all made from scratch too. When I begin a new scene I have to build it, which takes around 2-3hours and then render it, which takes roughly 4-6 hours. Obviously there are hardware issues involved as well as software issues now and again, so the process could be even more prolonged.

Once a scene has been built and rendered, I must add it to Flash and insert sound effects and soundtracks etc. So far, I have finished 7 scenes this week and I hope to complete another 12 or so. This will be my main part of the F.M.P to be covered during the next week as well.

Note: The dissertation is due for hand-in on the 14th Feb so I might not be able to get much else done. Also, I have had to take on a job in the City due to financial strain.

I have been able to really concentrate on the intro idea I had a few weeks ago.

For the past two days I have put my conceptual ideas for the intro sequence into practice and come up with some ideal results. I have been able to render enough frames to make a great video for my ‘company logo’ and I have also just completed the second scene in the intro video!

I have successfully rendered a fascinating bit of 3d artwork after intensively teaching myself how to manipulate Swift 3D into producing ’3d studio max’ worthy images. The piece I have rendered well will be used as my main menu screen which has given me more ideas into how I can utilise more imagery into the front end of the game.

The client brief was handed in on friday 11th Jan also and the week has been a very busy one.

In order to have had a full project to hand in, myself and another group member had to put together a fully working game and a fully designed, finished piece of design documentation complete with concept companion document.

Even though I had assigned jobs to my group members (including myself) no-one except for me actually carried out any work. A big ‘sigh’ took over me this week and I literally worked around three 24hr clocks to get the work done, i.e three members-worth of work!!

Unfortunately, no work has been added to my F.M.P.

Over the Christmas break, I will not be able to add any more work towards the F.M.P because of a few reasons;

A) I will not be able to contact the rest of my client brief group over Christmas

B) Due to the Client brief needing to be handed in when we return to University (in the first week back) I will be concentrating on working towards the brief in any of the rare spare time I find.

C) Christmas is a busy time and family get-togethers are unavoidable, so I might not have any free time to complete any realistic tasks I set myself.

 I have taken steps into planning a fully vectorised piece of intro sequencing so that I can incorporate the cutscene into the front end of the game, thus enabling me to introduce some artwork which will show of a part of my skills in my portfolio. This will be visually helpful in getting across what I have learnt at University at the present time.

I am using Swift 3D for the vector artwork and I think it is the most fitting tool to be used in conjunction with my F.M.P due to the nature (style) of the game.

I have also started to use parts of the intro sequence which will help me create main menu screens and sub-menu screens.

There is a major push on the client brief as the approach to Christmas gains acceleration.
